WHAT IS THE DESIGNATHON
The McMaster Designathon is a growing competition, dedicated to inspiring innovation and tackling problems through design and 3D modelling. Given selected problems from industry, students will generate solutions with CAD, 3D print prototypes, and present to judges -
ALL IN ONE WEEKEND.

WHAT IS DESIGNATHON
McMaster’s Designathon is a weekend long design competition. Students will get to come together with friends and meet new people to tackle challenging problems brought directly from industry.
IS IT FREE?
YES! Designathon is completely free for all students. *** There is $5 deposit to register. This will be refunded on completion of the event.
WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED?
YES YES YES! All meals will be provided.
WHAT WILL I BE WORKING ON?
You will be working in team to solve a challenge given by industry leaders. There will also be an option to come up with your own problem (needs to be approved) that you think needs to be solved.
CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE?
The competition is open to anyone at McMaster University is who is interested in design. Your field of study is not a limitation; the Designathon is open for all creative thinkers to come out and enjoy the experience!
WHEN AND WHERE?
Designathon will be held at McMaster University on January 20th-21st, 2018.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER?
The last day to apply is January 14th, 2018
DO I NEED A TEAM TO REGISTER?
No - you can either register with a team or by yourself. We will have a team forming session at the event for you to meet like-minded students and then form a team.
DOES EVERYONE GET TO 3D PRINT?
We will have 3D printing accessible for everyone, however it will be a first come, first serve basis. There are no costs associated for our event and this includes all 3D printing!
WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE CAD?
We have awesome workshops throughout the year that you can attend to learn all the basics and fundamentals of CAD. We will also have a technical team that can help you with any troubles you have at the event.
